Volkswagen Issues Recall For Engine Stall Defect

If you have experienced engine stalling problems with your 2021-2023 Audi Q5, 2022-2023 VW Atlas, or 2022-2023 VW Atlas Cross Sport then you’re not alone.

Volkswagen Group of America (owner of Audi and other luxury brands such as Lamborghini, Bentley, Porsche and Ducati) issued a safety recall on October 7, 2022. The company acknowledged that faulty connecting rod bearings installed in the range of the affected vehicles can cause the engine to fail, stall and increase the likelihood of a crash.

The company further acknowledged that engine failure can cause oil to leak and increase the likelihood of an engine fire. The company began investigating the engine fire in November of 2021 according to correspondence submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and ultimately issued the October 2022 recall. VWGoA reported that 74,067 vehicles are affected nationwide and are replacing engines on affected vehicles.
